Marital Injury

What is it?

When there is a pattern of neglect, abuse, or an inability to communicate or settle conflicts in a marital relationship, it may be defined as marital injury.

3 Reasons it Matters

  1. If you have a pattern of denying issues or avoiding resolving conflicts, it will eventually damage your relationship with your partner.
  2. Over time, your partner will not feel safe with you; they may even lose respect for you.
  3. Core toxic patterns include a pattern of criticism, stonewalling, contempt, or defensiveness with your partner. A large number of relationships with marital injury will eventually break down and dissolve.
