Gaslighting
What is it?
Gaslighting is psychological and emotional abuse. It happens when someone manipulates you into doubting your own sanity, memories, and perception of reality.
3 Reasons it Matters
- When someone gaslights you, it throws off your emotional and psychological equilibrium to the point where you stop trusting your own reality or memories of interactions with this person.
- The gaslighter seeks control and wants you to be dependent on them.
- Recognizing gaslighting enables you to set boundaries, assert yourself, and, if necessary, remove the person from your life.
