Self-Esteem or Self-Worth

What is it?

Every person deserves a healthy understanding of their inherent value and worth. Self-esteem, or self-worth, influences a person’s confidence, self-respect, and attitude toward themself and their abilities.

3 Reasons it Matters

  1. If you have low self-esteem or poor self-worth, it can be challenging to find respect for yourself. This can negatively impact your ability to navigate the world confidently with others.
  2. You will have the tendency to confuse what you do with who you are, meaning you will only feel good about yourself if you “do” something successfully. This can lead to the feeling that you must perform for others to gain their approval.
  3. People with healthy self-esteem have a solid, quiet sense that they belong in this world, have a right to be here, and have a purpose to their life. Overall, this leads to a sense of well being: all is well within you, even when having difficult circumstances.
