Anger

What is it?

One of the most basic human emotions, anger is essential for healthy survival; yet, it needs to be balanced by self-regulation. Most of us know when we are angry. It can be characterized by feelings of annoyance, frustration, hostility, or displeasure. Physically, an angry person feels their muscles tense and their heart rate increase.

3 Reasons it Matters

  1. Anger can serve as a warning to alert us to a threat or the need to establish boundaries with others.
  2. When not measured or self-regulated, anger can harm our relationships.
  3. Anger can be a legitimate motivator for enacting social justice and fighting for what is right.
